Our Surf Camp is divided into two groups, Rippers and Chargers. The info below will help determine which group will be best for your camper.
Rippers are first time surfers or are at the stage where they still need hands-on assistance from a coach to get them through the waves and to catch waves. They will be riding waves after they break (whitewater waves). They likely don't have their own surfboard at home and have little experience surfing outside of a camp setting.
Chargers can paddle out past the waves on their own and can catch and ride unbroken waves without assistance. Chargers are joining camp to learn intermediate to advanced surfing skills, such as bottom-turning, cutting back, tricks, etc. A major focus for chargers in camp will be surfing etiquette, how to surf with a crowd and how to surf on your own at different locations. Chargers likely have their own surfboard and surf on their own outside of a camp setting. Surfboards are provided for chargers but they are also welcome to bring their own equipment.
Please Contact Us if you’re unsure which group to join.
